EHS Supervisor - Printing Industry

4. Reporting To:

5. Job Purpose:
To ensure workplace safety, environmental compliance, and health standards in a printing facility by supervising
EHS activities, implementing safety programs, and monitoring printing-specific risks associated with inks,
solvents, dyes, chemical handling, and machinery.
6. Key Responsibilities
A. Safety Management
Implement and monitor safety programs in printing, ink kitchen, solvent handling, and press areas.
Conduct risk assessments, job safety analyses (JSA), and hazard identification for printing
operations.
Ensure proper use of PPE, safety signs, and emergency protocols.
Supervise compliance with lockout-tagout (LOTO) procedures for printing machines.
B. Training & Awareness
Conduct EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and new joiners.
Promote awareness on safe handling of solvents, inks, dyes, acids, and cleaning agents.
Train staff on fire safety, spill management, and emergency response.
C. Audits & Inspections
Conduct regular plant audits, risk assessments, and workplace inspections.
Prepare reports and recommendations for improvements.
Follow up on corrective actions from internal and external audits.
D. Incident Management
Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
Maintain records of incidents, injuries, and corrective actions.
Ensure proper reporting to regulatory authorities as required.
E. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain EHS records: inspection reports, chemical inventory, safety drills, and incident reports.
Monitor compliance with ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 / local safety regulations.
Prepare periodic reports for management review.
7. Skills & Competencies
Knowledge of printing processes: offset, flexo, gravure, or digital printing.
Understanding of chemical handling, solvent safety, and hazardous waste management.
Knowledge of EHS standards: ISO 45001, ISO 14001, Fire Safety, OSHA norms.
Ability to conduct training, audits, and risk assessments.
Strong communication, observation, and problem-solving skills.
8. Qualification & Experience
Education: Diploma / Graduate in Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or Engineering.
Experience: 2-5 years in EHS role, preferably in printing, packaging, or chemical industries.
